Pandavara Betta in Doddamalthe, Kodagu, is one of those hills where history quietly survives in the landscape.
Rising above the coffee plantations, the hill holds ancient Dolmens and Menhirs that are believed to date back at least three thousand years. Some still stand undisturbed, while others have slowly weathered with time, together preserving traces of Kodagu’s early burial traditions and megalithic past.
What makes this site remarkable is how much still remains visible today. Despite its archaeological importance, many people from Kodagu and beyond are only now discovering that such a place exists.
Sites like Pandavara Betta remind us that Karnataka’s prehistoric heritage is not confined to museums or textbooks — it still survives in open landscapes, waiting to be noticed, documented, and protected.
